The Barn

The Barn

We raced on horseback together on the same horse to get back to the barn where we would have shelter from the storm that was now coming down on us fast and hard.  We were both getting drenched on top of that horse who we sensed also felt the urgency to get us all back to the safety of the barn.  I held on to him tight, my strong, sexy cowboy who I had fantasized about more than once as I watched him work on the ranch. I buried my face in his back and inhaled his manly scent. His shirt smelled like no musk I have ever experienced before and it made me want to experience more of him, so much more.

I couldn't let myself go there as I has no idea what could, should or would happen next.  I didn't even have a clue if this strong handsome man had any interest in me or thought about me the way I was thinking about him.  Right now the man who was the star in several of my fantasy's was also my hero rescuing me from this storm.  We stopped outside the barn door. He got off the horse, opened the barn door and walked us both inside.

Once all the way in, he shut the barn door and with it locked out what little light the open door gave and the storm that was raging outside.  He looked up at me and put his arms out to help me off the horse.  I fell into his arms and slid down his body until my feet reached the hay laden floor below.  We were both soaking wet and needed to get dry fast so we wouldn't get sick.  He told me he had a room and some dry clothes upstairs in the barn.  I knew he slept up there but I had never been up there before.

He tended to the horse and got him settled in a stall and we started up the very narrow and rustic looking staircase that led to the loft room where this man spent his nights.  At the top of the staircase I noticed the exposed beams that made up the ceiling. The room had a Queen Size bed and a gorgeous wood bench. There was a rustic bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet on the far side of the room. It was perfect.  I would have never imagined that this rough and tough cowboy would sleep in this color coordinated romantic room but realized it was my best friends Mom who owned the ranch with her husband who actually decorated this room. He had a closet and trunk in the room where he kept his clothes.

He gave me a red and black flannel shirt to wear and he told I could change in his bathroom.  He suggested that I hang my wet clothes over the shower curtain to dry. I went into the bathroom and when I came out I was face to face with this man who had taken off his drenched shirt. He stood there in front of me with the wetness still glistening on his very muscular chest. He literally took my breath away and I just couldn't stop looking at this absolutely perfect man.

He asked me if I was cold and it was at that time that I realized that I was shivering.  I didn't know if I was shivering because of being wet or cold or if I was shivering because seeing him standing there excited me so. He took the throw blanket off the bench and draped it over my shoulders.  I stood there looking into his deep blue eyes. He pulled me close to him and rubbed my shoulders and back in an attempt to help warm me up.

I don't know what came over me but I got up on my tip toes and I kissed him gently on the lips while still looking into his eyes.  I let the kiss linger for about 10 seconds and slowly pulled away from him.  I wanted nothing more in this world at that moment but for that man to pull me to him and kiss me back.  We looked in each others eyes for what felt like five minutes and this perfect man who also seemed to be perfectly shy brought his lips close to my lips and waited to see if I wanted his kiss.  I let my lips touch his and the perfect kiss began.

I felt my heart beating so hard it felt like it would beat right out of my chest. I could have stayed in this moment forever. As we stood there kissing, I couldn't help but wonder if he wanted me as much as I wanted him.  He pulled me close to him and that question was answered...immediately.

A summer rain I'll never forget

A summer rain I’ll never forget nor will I forget the taste of his kiss or the feel of his hands as he pulled me to him in a way no other man ever had.

I had seen him working on my friend’s parent’s ranch that summer.  It was the summer I turned 18 and it would the summer that would change my life forever for many reasons.

I would watch him from the kitchen window as he tended to the horses and did whatever it was that ranch hands did.  His skin was kissed by the sun and always glittered and shined from sweat.  He smelled like musky sunshine and his jeans and boots fit like he was born in them.
I went for a walk that day.  I should have stayed in.  We were warned by the weather service that things could get bad but being a know it all I decided to throw caution to the wind and wandered out anyway.

I was a good mile, maybe even mile and a half from the ranch when the wind started to blow.  The rain came fast and hard and it was blinding.  I tried to look for shelter but saw none.

All of a sudden and out of nowhere, there he was on top of his American Saddlebred. He put his hand down and moved the wet hair from across the front of my face.  I looked up at him and he put out his hand motioning for me to grab it and I did.  With that he pulled me up as if I weighed nothing at all and there I was on top of the horse with this man I had only daydreamed about.

The barn offered us shelter from the storm
He pulled on the reigns and the horse took off with us on him.  I sat behind him and held onto to him for dear life burying my chin and face into his back. He said he knew of a barn down yonder and we would be safe there until the storm passed.

Come back soon to read what happened between Lucia and her cowboy as they waited for the sky to clear.

My name is Lucia

Valley View in the middle of summer
My name while I was growing up was Lucia Angelina Moretti.  I have been Lucia Angelina DeSimone.  I now go by the name of Lucia Moretti-Shea because in my second marriage I was not giving up Moretti as I did in the first.

Do I dare write what I think in such a public forum?  I mean, do I dare write what I really think in such a public forum?  I am talking about not holding back, not withholding anything, FULL FREAKING DISCLOSURE?  Would it be read?  Would it be worth reading?  After all, Valley View looks like a quiet quaint sweet place to live but man oh man, underneath all those landscaped green lawns and edged walkways are secrets, lies and betrayal.

Okay, okay, there is also love, romance and moments of sheer and complete perfection.  This is going to be a wild ride that sometimes gets as hot as a summer night in Tennessee.

Buckle up, sit back and make sure to subscribe to this blog if you want to be updated.
