DAYS: Does Nicole ever get a break?

I have been catching up on all my soaps because of the holidays so I am a bit behind.  Just finished watching the New Year’s Eve episode and what is up with that bus boy spilling his guts to a complete stranger in the hallway?

Isn’t it bad enough he let a complete stranger into some one’s room but now he is telling someone he did it.  What a jerk. 

Poor Nicole, Okay granted, she shouldn’t be snooping around in Serena’s room but she is an investigative reporter after all, it is in her nature to do these things, especially in matters of the heart.  I would say that Serena is hiding something and it is big.  Did she have Eric’s child?

I would like Nicole to have happiness for 5 minutes.  I just watched the NYE episode so I don’t know if she gets to take that long awaited date.  Daniel has told Jennifer he is doing it, it looks like he got off from work and the ended the episode with him walking in on Nicole and his daughter arguing.    
I am hoping he didn’t hear what they were saying and Nicole gets to have her New Year’s Eve date.    
Why does Eric have such a hateful attitude toward Nicole?  They say there is a very fine line between love and hate and his hate passion is on fire.
